Bear Scouts are Scouts who are in third grade or 8-years-old and can be identified by their light blue Scout caps, light blue neckerchiefs, and light blue neckerchief slides.

In addition to selecting at least one of TWELVE available electives, Bears must complete and earn the following belt loops:

BALOO the Builder
Bear Claws
Bear Essentials
Fellowship and Duty to God
Fur, Feathers and Ferns
Paws for Action

Bears also  start working toward their Whittling Chip, which allows them to carry a small pocketknife (with your permission, of course) to use in a designated area at Scouting events, under direct adult supervision.

Some of the twelve available electives include Forensics, Super Science, and Grin and Bear It!

The Uniform Code:

Your child should/will be encouraged to wear their uniform appropriately.  The shirt should always be tucked in and orderly. They should understand the importance of representing the entire Boy Scout Organization while in uniform.

Time to Sew?

The image to the left will help with the placement of emblems and patches.

To get an idea of pricing, or to order items online, visit http://www.scoutstuff.org.  This is the official online scout shop.  They should have the same prices as our local scout shop.

Patches You Don't Need to Buy

Any Rank Advancement Badge or Patch that your Scout earns will be awarded (at no cost) during the Monthly Pack Meetings.  You will need to sew them on, but they are provided.  Uniform shirts can be purchased with the Scout logo and Council patches pre-sewn.
